Dissemination of the MISSION4WATER Project at Fashion Weekend Skopje 32 and Fostering Collaboration for a Sustainable Textile Sector

On 28 March 2026, at Diamond Area Space, the Textile Trade Association – Textile Cluster participated in the public talk “MISSION4WATER: Collaboration for Sustainable Textile Production”, held within Fashion Weekend Skopje 32.
The presentation focused on the challenges related to the impact of the textile sector on water resources, with particular emphasis on microplastics as one of the less visible, yet increasingly relevant environmental issues. It was highlighted that this problem does not occur only during production, but also during the use and maintenance phase of garments, underlining the important role of consumers within the broader system.

In this context, the Mission4Water project was presented, aiming to contribute to the reduction of water pollution through green innovation, clean technologies, and collaboration between different stakeholders — including companies, researchers, institutions, and civil society organisations.
Through concrete examples from implemented activities, insights were shared from public events, matchmaking initiatives, targeted company meetings, and educational workshops. These experiences demonstrate a clear interest in sustainable solutions, while also pointing to the need for more structured mechanisms to support collaboration and the development of initiatives.
The open Call for innovative projects was also presented as an opportunity for companies, researchers, and organisations to engage in the process and contribute with their ideas and solutions. It was emphasized that this is a continuous process, with further opportunities for participation expected in the upcoming period.

We remain committed to fostering collaboration and supporting the development of solutions for a more sustainable and responsible textile sector.
