WHICH COMMUNICATION CHANNELS WILL PREFER THEM IN THE NEXT PERIOD?
On June 25, 2020, an online meeting was held between the Balkan Textile Associations, the German Textile Association DTB (https://www.dialog-dtb.de/) and representatives of two textile companies from Germany. The event, which was conceived in the form of a panel discussion, was attended by:Mr. Carsten Schreiter, the CEO of Hilt Hosen, https://www.hiltl.de/
Mr. Marc Lübbert, the CEO of MERK +, https://merkplus.com/
The event was organized by the textile associations from the Balkans, partners of SIPPO, including the Textile Cluster. The event was supported and organized in cooperation with SIPPO (https://www.sippo.mk/en), Switzerland and the moderator of the event was the expert from SIPPO for textile industry Brigitte Heuser. The panelists spoke on topics related to the new situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, ie answers were sought to the questions: what will be the market priorities, what are the problems they face, what are their production plans, whether the procurement of products locally on The territory of Europe will be important for them in the next period, how they will find suppliers now when the fairs are canceled, which communication channels they will use in the near future to get in touch with potential business partners and more.
New sales strategy or Changes in the way procurement and sales are organized
The first part of the panel discussion discussed the market priorities in Germany based on the changes caused by the Corona virus. Uncertainty about the future development of the industry remains even after the easing of prevention measures. Industry (business) is expected to decline between 25% and 50% due to the situation with COVID - 19.Panelist Carsten Schreiter pointed out that the new situation will certainly cause changes in the overall way of functioning and organizing orders and sales. It will be necessary to make a completely new sales strategy. The collections that will be made during this period should be innovative and of higher quality in order to be interesting for the buyers. Additionally, a change in the ordering rhythm should be considered (eg sales for the winter collection should start in September and in the summer collection in February).
The pandemic caused major problems in the supply chain and slowed down the process as a result of delays in the delivery of materials and delays in production. Having this in mind and of course the expectation for small series of orders, it is of great importance to introduce digitalization, especially in the field of communication in the entire supply chain
The digital order and monitoring of the delivery of materials up to the production of the finished product and the sale will be raised to the highest level in order to make good coordination and to minimize the delays in the deliveries.
On the other hand, "source closer - procure locally" or organizing the procurement of materials, production and sale of finished product in a relatively relatively close geographical area, will be crucial for a quick response to customer requests that in the current conditions will be quite variable. Although basic items will still be produced in China, Southeast Europe will be attractive for producing specially designed orders of higher quality. When it comes to quality, companies will be required to invest in training their employees in order to improve their skills and increase their efficiency and productivity. Establishing training centers for that purpose will be of great benefit.
Innovative design for new summer collections
In terms of design, now is the time to make new summer collections that need to be innovative and creative to convince consumers to buy them. Brands will have to follow fashion trends in terms of materials, visit fairs in Italy or Germany if the situation allows. The collections will have to be made in attractive colors but special attention will have to be paid to the quality to which the brands will pay a lot of attention in the next period. Reducing the size of orders will cause a change in the sales rhythm that will return to the old model of seasonal sales instead of fast fashion. The panelists' prediction is that brands will increasingly prefer to produce a finished product at the expense of LON,What will be the communication between buyers / brands and manufacturers
Regarding the communication between the buyers / brands and the producers, they emphasized that online B2B meetings can be useful and should be from
