TTA-TC staff on 11th of September 2024 attended the training on the subject: “Strategies for Textile Waste Management”. The training is one of the series workshops within Activity 1.3 Train the Trainer Workshop of the VERDEinMED training project. The aim of this workshop was exploring innovative approaches and best practices for managing textile waste across the product lifecycle, from production to end-of-life. The content of the training was:

1. Textile waste generation and composition: Understanding the sources, types, and characteristics of textile waste;


2. Waste reduction and prevention strategies: Design for disassembly, waste minimization techniques, and lean manufacturing principles;


3. Recycling and upcycling technologies: Mechanical, chemical, and biological processes for textile recycling and reuse;


4. Extended producer responsibility (EPR) and product stewardship programs: Legal frameworks, producer obligations, and industry initiatives;


5. Circular waste management systems: Collaborative approaches, stakeholder engagement, and closing the loop on textile waste.
