Redefining Fashion: Dealing with Textile Waste

Did you know that many of your favourite European fashion brands are produced right here, in our country? 🧵✂️
Although we are proud of our role in the global fashion industry, textile waste remains a serious challenge. 💡
Worryingly, 25-40% of the textiles used for clothing production end up as waste. This makes the reduction and management of textile waste one of the highest priorities for North Macedonia, along with the development of innovative recycling practices.
Ending the year, Textile Trade Association - Textile cluster, in collaboration with Fashion Weekend Skopje, participated in a clothing swap event, aiming to raise key questions about textile waste in the fashion industry. By swapping clothes, we not only minimize waste, but also preserve valuable resources, while promoting sustainability. Every small step counts for a shared future where fashion will not endanger the planet. 👗👚🌍Within our project VERDEinMED, we are introducing an analytical framework for assessing the successful implementation of circular business models in the textile sector. This framework identifies key innovations and necessary changes that will support the transition to sustainability. ✨
